Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Follow these instructions for optimal healing and long-lasting colours
Healing Timeline
0–3
hrs
Right after the session
Keep the tattoo covered with the wrap applied in the studio. Remove it after a few hours (as instructed by Irene). After removal, do not re-wrap.
2–14
days
Days 2–14
Wash your tattoo morning and evening with neutral soap and lukewarm water. Pat dry gently. Apply a thin layer of specific cream morning and evening. The skin may be red or peel slightly — this is normal. Do not scratch the scabs.
14+
days
From day 14 onwards
Continue washing and applying cream morning and evening. Surface healing is complete. Protect from direct sunlight.
3–6
mo
Deep healing
The colour fully stabilises. Continue using SPF 50+ whenever you're exposed to sunlight. Moisturise the skin regularly.
Do's and Don'ts
Do
  • Wash morning and evening with neutral soap and lukewarm water
  • Apply specific cream thinly morning and evening
  • Moisturise the skin regularly even after healing
  • Always use SPF 50+ when in the sun
  • Wear soft, non-synthetic clothing over the area
  • Contact Irene if you notice signs of infection
Don't
  • Don't scratch or pick at scabs
  • Don't re-wrap after the initial removal
  • No pool, sea or bath for 3–4 weeks
  • No direct sun for at least 1 month
  • No tanning beds during healing
  • No intense exercise or excessive sweating for 1 week
  • No scented creams or alcohol-based products on the area
Long-Term Care
Keep your colours vibrant over time
  • Always apply SPF 50+ sunscreen on the tattooed area when in the sun — it's the number one enemy of colour
  • Moisturise the skin daily with a fragrance-free, alcohol-free cream
  • A touch-up every 5–10 years is enough to restore the tattoo to its original brilliance
  • If you notice unusual fading within the first 6 months, contact Irene — a free touch-up may be needed
Session Day
How to prepare
  • Eat well before coming — don't arrive on an empty stomach
  • Stay hydrated in the hours before
  • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area
  • Avoid alcohol in the 24 hours before
  • Bring a hoodie or blanket — it can get cold during long sessions
  • Bring snacks and water for full-day sessions
Important note: Every skin reacts differently. If during healing you notice persistent redness, swelling, excessive heat or unusual colour loss, contact me immediately — it's better to check before the problem gets worse.
